Ladies, you are go for drama.
Chevalier co-stars Lucy Boynton, Sian Clifford and Ronke Adekoluejo hit the London screening red carpet in exactly the kinds of looks we like to see for historical drama premieres: grandiose in the manner of old world high style, but modern because everyone here is a working actress, not a character. Having said that, of course we have quibbles. We can only be as God made us, darlings. Bitches.
Lucy Boynton in Honor
This whole gown is entirely too much, but she’s got a great track record for pulling off dramatically twee and off-beat fashion. While we don’t love the purple metallic used for a dress of this style, we have to admit, it gives it a visual punch that makes it feel more modern. We don’t understand the hair situation.
Sian Clifford
As much as we dislike fringe, there’s something about this style – the severity and playfulness of it – that seems to suit her really well. It comes off more chic than it would on another wearer, we think. The black hose and pumps were smart.
Ronke Adekoluejo in Stella McCartney
She got Stella’d, we’re sorry to say. Yellow satin was never going to travel well, but this dress looks particularly flimsy. It’s a shame, because the color and design really work for her. They’d have had to transport her there hanging from a helicopter or standing up on a bus in order to get her there without any wrinkles.
