Princess Cathy made a surprise visit to the Chelsea Flower Show and she made a fairly savvy dress choice for the occasion. Reaching back into the royal closet, she rewore a bold, princess-y pink that’s perfect for posing with children and flowers, helps her stand out tremendously, and takes a page from Queen Elizabeth’s style book of wearing a bold, bright color appropriate to the situation, that helps her stand out.
It’s cute. And if it wasn’t specifically chosen to pop against a green grass background, then the results are happy happenstance. It takes a great picture. She wore this once before to meet a young girl who’d been sick with leukemia, after she promised her that they would meet in a castle and wear princess dresses together. Given her resemblance to one, it’s honestly not a bad idea for her to play up the Disney Princess angle when it comes to her style choices. This is simple, faux-humble, femme beyond femme, and classic. It’s her style sweet spot. Notice how she switched the belt out for a much more lower-key, less business-like sash. It’s giving Belle.
