Pardon our uncharacteristically inarticulate response to this, but…

OMGOMGOMG IT’S HAPPENING AGAIN! If you’re confused, then by all means, please take a listen to the podcast where we absolutely raved about season one of Schmigadoon! If that doesn’t help, perhaps looking at the astonishingly faithful costume and production design of the new season:

Oh, and did we mention that it’s stacked to the rafters with some of the best musical and comedy stars of this era? Look, when the first season dropped, we explained that we never bothered recapping it even though we adored every minute of it because we think it’s one of those shows that’s for a fairly specific audience; in this case, people who have slightly more than a passing knowledge of American musical theater. The first season was devoted almost entirely to pastiche of Rodgers & Hammerstein musicals, from Oklahoma to Carousel to State Fair, with a little bit of The Sound of Music plus a slight detour to The Music Man. But clearly this second season is taking the concept a little closer to the present day, with a focus on the work of Sondheim, Kander & Ebb and Bob Fosse. We spy some Cabaret, a lot of Chicago, a few Sweeney Todd bits and what looks to be a full blown (pun intended) Hair parody. The first season was hellaciously funny and surprisingly adept in its pastiche. The thing is, when you write some fairly good parody songs of musical theater classics and you get some of the best musical theater people in the business to perform them, you’re going to wind up with a really entertaining musical, whether you’re parodying it or not. CANNOT WAIT for this one to premiere.
