The gentlemen of Creed III came out for the London premiere and demonstrated their nearly polar opposite approaches to red carpet style. Gentlemen? Start your engines…

We weren’t loving the Nana Jacket he was sporting the other day, but we have to give the man props for his current exploration of a subtle sort of flamboyance in his style. In other words, we see your brooches, sir, and we love them. Having now explored both the classic Chanel tweed jacket and the beauty of brooches, we fully expect him to take his granny chic obsession even further by exploring silk scarves and old-school hinged pocketbooks. Get your Jessica Fletcher on, we say. Joking aside, the suit is really sharp and we mean it when we say we appreciate the subtle way he’s pushing the envelope for himself.

Okay, so we think it’s safe to say at this point that this is a bit. We’re fashion bloggers – specifically red carpet fashion bloggers – so we’re inclined to roll our eyes at anyone using their red carpet appearance to make some sort of anti-fashion statement. Still, we’ve been doing this gig long enough to know when to respect such a perspective. He has a right to refuse to ride that particular carousel. But we’ll say to him what we used to say to Lena Dunham when she used to pull this kind of shit: You can just come out in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt and call it good if dressing up is not your bag. Going out of your way to look goofy – and make no mistake, that below-the-ankles situation is deliberately goofy as shit – is silly. It doesn’t make you look more serious or artful, it just looks like an affectation in a setting like this.
