Directed by Self-Portrait Founder and Creative Director Han Chong and styled by Audrey Hu, the campaign celebrates family and friendship through a series of images capturing the importance of unity, community and shared rituals. Drawing inspiration from their heritage, Han and Alexandra wanted to embrace both the intimacy and energy of these familial moments of tradition.
“Lunar New Year is one of my favourite times of the year…it is a time for ritual, for reflection and of course for celebration! Having grown up in Malaysia, I witnessed first hand the importance of this occasion for the women in my life – the rituals of dressing for festivities and what a special time it is for family and sisterhood. Since then, I’ve always tried to pay homage to this holiday through my work, and this year we collaborated with Alexandra Leese to capture our dedicated collection as well as the spirit, tradition and warmth of the season.” – Han Chong
The new self-portrait Lunar New Year collection features styles for women and kids including designs inspired by the cheongsam. Pieces in vibrant reds and delicate pastels are available in signature Guipure lace, crepe, bouclé, and knitted fabrics. The Bow Bag is interpreted for the festive season in red, gold and silver.
The collection is now available to purchase online at self-portrait.com, in self-portrait stores around the world including self-portrait’s new London store on the corner of Chelsea’s Kings Road and Duke of York Square, and across its global network of partner retailers.
