Kittens, you may be thinking about the change in seasons by looking at the shorter days or the falling leaves, but all we can think this week is how awards season has kicked itself off once again. Good Lady Cate is gunning for some nominations for her critically acclaimed work in Tár, which means she’s out here on these streets serving looks. We thank her for these blessings.

We had doubts about this look when we saw the street shots. The colors looked a little too rich together, the dress looked a little sloppy, and we didn’t think the shapes worked all that well paired up. But we should never doubt the GLC in matters of presentation, because this couldn’t look more perfect for a talk show set – especially a brightly lit and colored morning show. She really pops in that setting and she looks completely comfortable and confident.

This is so fun – and so New York- appropriate. She wouldn’t wear this at Cannes or Venice. She and her stylist Elizabeth Stewart have a real knack for dressing appropriately for the country or setting. It’s gorgeous and dramatic, but it also looks fairly comfortable and easy to wear, so long as she doesn’t plan on eating soup in the near future.
