We tend to respond better to style that’s a little eclectic, with more of a sprezzatura vibe to it, but sometimes, we’ve just gotta stand back and recognize when a “just so” look is way more than “just so,” if that makes any sense.
If we’re being honest, we have to admit that matching the bag to the dress and not having a hair out of place is usually not the kind of style that appeals to us. But this dress is unusual and extremely well-suited to its wearer, who has a knack for working the extreme ends of the style spectrum. In terms of what kinds of styles look best on her, this extreme slinkiness with almost no jewelry or fuss is her sweet spot. She’s starting to remind us more and more of Cher as she gets older, which retroactively makes her casting as Cher’s daughter in Mermaids three decades ago now seem pretty ingenious in retrospect. We’d love to see her work some of those uber-slinky Bob Mackie gowns that define Cher’s style. For now, we just wanted to give her the spotlight for being the second-best deployment of bronze on the red carpet this week.
