Everybody loves Abbott Elementary and it’s star/creator Quinta Brunson. This is not news, especially since she’s standing on a red carpet at an event honoring powerful women in entertainment. But we figured we’d test if your love for Miss Quinta extends to her style choices when they don’t quite work out. In other words, we don’t love this, but we’re putting it up to a vote anyway.
Yeah, no. None of this really works for us. As two professional homosexuals (not to mention authors of a book about drag queens), we never thought we’d say something like this, but we’re honestly over bright pinks and feathered gowns. There was a time when big, draggy dresses felt joyous, but because they’ve become so ubiquitous on red carpets, they’re really starting to look tired to us. It doesn’t help that the way they dyed the feathers looks horrible. It takes some work to make something as aesthetically perfect as a feather look ugly. Certainly, Quinta has earned this moment and if she wants to wear some big draggy dresses right now, she’s welcome to it. But we think this style is well past its sell-by date.
