Cathy Cambridge returned to an old favorite for the service commemorating Anzac Day at Westminster Abbey, a royal tradition since King George V attended the first service at Westminster Abbey in 1916 to mark the anniversary of the landings at Gallipoli.
She’s moved away from her signature coat dress style in recent years, but we never really believed it was going to go away forever. We predict that when she moves up the ladder as a senior royal, it will become more and more locked in as her preferred public style. She’s been working a lot of pantsuits and more casual styles lately – and that’s not likely to change – but as the throne looms ever closer, this will be seen as her queenly style. She wore this for Charlotte’s christening in 2015 and while it looks a little dated now to our eyes, that’s probably at least partly the point of it. Like the Queen, she’s going to settle into a style that will have nothing to do with current trends. If she’s lucky, she’ll be wearing coat dresses just like this well into her dotage.
We hate the headband. There. We said it.
