Lupita Nyong’o is Saks Fifth Avenue’s Spring Campaign Star

Saks, the premier digital platform for luxury fashion, debuted its digital-first spring 2022 campaign featuring Academy Award-winning actress, Executive Producer of Africa’s first superhero series for children Super Sema, and star of the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Lupita Nyong’o. The seasonal campaign celebrates why fashion is fun again by showcasing the bright, bold styles of the season through an optimistic, fresh and timely storytelling lens.

 

 

“I love dressing up and I love a reason to dress up. It reminds me of being a kid and coming up with outfits from sheets and towels and things—but now you have designers making incredible gowns for you. It’s a chance to make believe and live at a higher level.”

 

 

“There are designers who’ve been supportive of me from the beginning of my career and whom I hold very close to my heart, like Prada, Miu Miu and Versace (which I’m wearing right now). They’ve really informed my evolution, I suppose, in the world of style. I [like to] play with my sense of style and create a conversation with both larger and smaller [fashion] houses that are out there doing cool things.”

 

“I approach dressing for the red carpet with curiosity and a sense of humor. With my stylist Micaela [Erlanger], we’ll think about what mood I’m in and what story I want to tell in that particular moment. If I’m promoting a film, oftentimes we’ll get inspiration from it, like what’s the attitude I want to exude. It helps me really wear the clothes if I know how I would like to come across.”
