“Bruised” Star and Director Halle Berry at the Critics’ Choice Awards’ Celebration of Black Cinema & TV

The thing about Halle Berry’s style is that you can never really predict what it’s going to be. We tried to get a handle on it recently, noting that she has a real predilection for funky Boho looks, which is true, but clearly doesn’t tell the whole story. We’d never have predicted this look on this promo tour, going by all of her other looks worn in the last month or so:

We want to like it, since we were pretty much the original Christian Siriano boosters, but it really doesn’t suit her at all and it’s hard to not feel like she got talked into it. This sort of retro-precious ingenue look has absolutely never been her bag. The color’s nice, but we honestly don’t like any of the design details; not the bust, not the bodice, not the skirt, not the train. And to top (or bottom) it all off, those shoes are hellaciously distracting. Sorry Halle (and Christian), but it’s a no from us.
