Before we dive into not one, but two big ol’ Emmys red carpet rundowns, we figured we’d take a break from the relentless opinionating schedule and turn one final look of the night over to you for judgment. To be clear: we are not confused about this one. It’s very clear to us:
We think it’s gorgeous. Say what you will about her sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley, those ladies do know how to do minimalism right. We love the way the front is gently fitted while the back gives her real presence. The only way a gown this simple works is if the fit is impeccable and the styling does the heavy lifting. Her hair, makeup and earrings are gorgeous. All the interest is up at her face, exactly where she’d want it. If we have any quibbles, we think the hand jewelry could’ve been a bit more interesting. But this one’s not up to us and we know plenty of folks would find this sort of severely minimalist take to be a little too dull to applaud. So let’s hear it:
