It’s best not to think about it too much. Just let the diva vibe wash over you.
There’s no reason to assess this or critique it from a so-called “normal” style perspective. Don’t get us wrong; this is definitely capital-F FASHION, but it’s also a costume and a form of artistic statement. She’s playing a role and just like her Italian Movie Star and New York Torch Singer personae, this role is changeable and unpredictable. Given her recent high-fashion turns, we wouldn’t have expected her to return to this sort of high camp, high drama, low practicality sort of pop diva look for some time, but here she is, working a turban, just as God, Joan Crawford and Jessye Norman intended.
