We’ve got to give Kat Graham credit. She really grabbed hold of this year’s Cannes red carpet and didn’t let go until she served the absolute maximum number of head-turning, eye-popping, high-fashion, all-caps LEWKS as she could snag. That’s how you do it.

Did we say they were chic or elegant? No and now, for reasons that will soon be made clear.

Not that we’d call these looks tacky. It’s more that they’re in the high-end of the attention-seeking scale, which means it’s way more about getting photographers to fall all over themselves for a shot of you than it is about impressing the French fashion press. This is somehow a perfect Cannes gown, combining glamour, sexiness, and the kind of details that get your picture published all over the world.

We wouldn’t go so far as to call this showgirl costume the perfect amfAr Gaga gown (for lack of a better term), but it really is one of the glitzier, draggier events on the celebrity calendar. It’s not chic, but it’s also not inappropriate for the event. It’s also impressively constructed if nothing else. But yes: costume more than fashion, in our opinion.

We dont necessarily love the design (especially the bodice), but it’s an exuberant and relatively chic look that feels a bit more of the moment than the other pieces. The color looks great on her and from certain angles, it delivers a beautifully romantic vibe that she wears well.
