We think it’s fair to assume that in most instances, a bright green head-to-toe leopard print ensemble would be met with wrinkled noses and dubious expressions on our parts as we reached for a thesaurus to look up variants on “tacky.” But the ladies of In the Heights, specifically Melissa and her co-star Leslie Grace, have been hitting the promo trail in appropriately high-impact looks in bright colors and bold prints, managing to perfectly straddle that line of high-fashion chic and block party fun. In other words, despite what you may have assumed from our record of opinions, we absolutely love this on her:

Part of it comes down to the styling. Her hair is gorgeous, the green eyeshadow does a great job of tying the look together, and believe it or not, we even like the shoes. We’d prefer if they didn’t have the plastic toe vamp and the pointy sole, but they work really well with the outfit. The other reason this works for us is that she’s just so well suited to it. The enormous sleeves and tied crop top work somehow to give it a high-fashion feel and it’s the kind of look that absolutely should be shot in some sort of urban setting. What can we say? The girl looks great.
