Can we just say?
It has been a treat-and-a-half (not to mention a relief) to see things like red carpets returning and to end each week with enough of a surplus of celebrity looks that we can slap up a Friday Leftovers post. We realize the “nature is healing” joke got old some time back, but it really is quite notable how quickly certain things are snapping back into place. Granted, we’re at the height of awards season right now; typically the most red carpet-heavy time of the year as all the buzz-worthy awards professionals take every chance they can get to snag themselves a little high fashion and a little time in front of a camera.
Which is a long-winded way of saying Style File posts are back! Cynthia Erivo’s got a project to sell and she’s went SUPER high-fashion for it this week. But first, she had to step out for the Grammys, looking like a winner (she was nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media, for “Stand Up” from the Harriet soundtrack).

This is just ridiculously gorgeous. In true awards season style, she’s toned down some of her wilder fashion impulses and is hewing to a pretty standard “high glamour/high fashion” style for the moment. Still, we’d be hard-pressed to call this “standard” in any way. We love how the yoke gives it this vaguely ancient Egypt vibe to it without being literal. And the jewelry is, as always with her, spectacular.
But as much as we loved her Grammys look, the one she wore to the “Genius: Aretha” premiere killed us dead:

Who could possibly argue with this?
Of course we’re opening ourselves up to a bunch of responses willing to take us up on that challenge, but we’re already pre-dismissing their points. This is STUNNING. This is FLAWLESS.
