Our hats, if we were wearing any, would be off to Miss Ciara, because she’s been pounding the metaphorical pavement like she had a string of red carpet premieres and photo calls on her calendar. As always, we appreciate when any celeb serves us a little bit of style to talk about, but we respect it when an up-and-comer gets truly ambitious about it.
We’ve said before that our early impression of her style is somewhere in the plain and low-key area that Alicia Vikander resides. She seems to like simple shapes, classic styles, and largely neutral colors. Today, she’s showing us that she can be a bit broader in her tastes when she wants. Downright playful, even.

We will never not think from this point forward that all of these super-twee late ’60s-inspired Miu Miu mini-dresses absolutely require coordinating roller skates. No other shoe choice will ever make as much sense.
For real, we think the dress is perfect for her and we’re happy to see her loosen up a bit. Since she’s got nowhere to go, why not have some fun with the footwear? We’ve been “treated” to a lot of fuzzy slippers and Crocs from the celebrity set this year. Time to get more creative, as Miss Ciara knows.
This is in that same vaguely ’60s, Mad Men-esque style that she seems to prefer – and that, to our surprise, seems to be cycling back on trend after a relatively short period away. It’s cute in that very plain and low-key way we were talking about.
Of course we prefer the look with the pink rollerskates and sparkly drag queen dress. We can only be as God made us, kittens.
