Machine Gun Kelly at Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve

It’s a new year, so perhaps it’s time to remind the celebrity set of something they should hold near to their hearts, allowing it to inform nearly every decision they make: If you wear something interesting, T Lo’ll cover you.

Not that Machine Gun Kelly needs us or anything, but when we looked through the post possibilities this morning, other male pop stars failed to catch our eye because of boring suiting choices. When this outfit came into view, we put on our old-timey press hats and yelled “STOP THE PRESSES AND GET ME REWRITE, SWEETHEART!”

Haha, we’re lying. Even so, this really did pop out and we felt compelled to give him an Attaboy and a little spotlight time.

We realize it’s not quite revolutionary to see a male pop star in a bubblegum pink stage costume in 2021, but even so, we can’t help but be struck by it. Elton John in 1978 and George Michael in 1986 would’ve both passed on this ensemble for looking too gay.

And the best part is that it doesn’t feel gimmicky or like a point is being made. He just happens to look really, really good in bright pink; so much so that we briefly entertained the wild idea of securing ourselves a couple of pink puffy jackets. We suspect we would not pull them off nearly as well.
