Cathy Cambridge in Alexander McQueen at the Hold Still Photography Project

Posted on October 20, 2020

Duchess Cathy stepped out in a vivid red McQueen coat – and nothing else!

Okay, fine. She is actually wearing an outfit under there, but since she and her hubs are being good about social distancing (after the Queen herself bungled her first public appearance since March by stepping out and mingling with people while maskless last week), we guess staying outside and staying warm were more important than putting on too much of a fashion show. Still, it’s a gorgeous coat and we’re glad to see she’s being a bit more conscientious about putting out a responsible image than the Queen (of all people) was last week. As we said in our podcast last week, the Queen likely feels that the public needs to see her face (her whole reign has been characterized by the sense that the British people want their sovereign to be an ever-present image of stability) whereas Cathy might be just a bit more attuned to what kind of image the public may want from their royals at this time.
