SWANKY! But you have to say it with three syllables, like this: SUH-WANKY! That is the word that comes to mind with today’s lounge. Grab something plush and cuddle up to it all day long. It’s the kind of day that calls for plush-cuddling, which is a term we just invented. For real: the world is dark, sad, and scary right now. More than ever, you need to take care of yourself in the middle of all this. Stay well, stay informed, but also, stay centered and motivated by taking the time to take care of yourself emotionally and physically. Sorry to get all woo-woo about it, but it’s true. When it feels like the world is tearing itself apart, you need to make sure your emotional ducks are all lined up so you can face things with your feet under you. So to speak. We’re mixing all sorts of metaphors ’round these parts.

Today is THURSDAY. Congratulations. Raise a glass to Thor and thank him for his blessings.

And while you’re doing all the cuddling and self-care and lining up of ducks, take a moment to enjoy the distractions we have compiled for you today.

15 of Stevie Nicks’s Grooviest, Witchiest Looks
Few people have defined free-spirited, bohemian fashion quite like Stevie Nicks. Nicks turns 72 today and the famed Fleetwood Mac vocalist’s stage presence is just as mesmerizing as it was when she first burst onto the music scene back in the 1970s. Nicks’s signature sense of style has been just as captivating as the mystical persona that she embodies on stage.

Know Your History: The CHANEL Jacket
Ideally, the best designs are not only instantly recognizable, but also elicit an immediate feeling from their viewer. The undulating steel of a Frank Gehry building, the heart-quickening lines of a Ferrari, even the iPhone you’re likely reading this on, can each immediately be conjured up with your eyes closed. In fashion, designing something so recognizable that it lasts well beyond its creator’s lifetime is a feat all strive for and few ever achieve. Such is the case with a CHANEL jacket.

The Anti-Racist Reading List
Because allyship can’t be proven with a few social media posts.
The last few weeks, and really, the last few centuries, have been exhausting for Black Americans. The violent cycle goes: trauma —> invisibilization —> normalization —> repeat. How do we stop the runaway train that is white supremacy? There’s no one answer—a complex problem needs many solutions. But the question I consistently pose to those who claim to support Black people is, “When is the last time you read a book written by a Black person of your own volition?”
