Even though this was a breakfast, the style on tap was the epitome of “Ladies Who Lunch” (2019 edition). The looks were boldly conservative, if that makes any sense. And the footwear was apparently of top importance, because there were some CHOICES made on that front.
Abigail Spencer in Chanel
Oof. No, lady. Those Chanel folks did you wrong. The skirt is pretty enough, but the top half is the very definition of “mumsy.” Even though it looks to be a fairly lightweight dress, the sandals feel like they just don’t go with it.
Anna Paquin in Monique Lhuillier
The dress is okay, but it doesn’t photograph well, which makes the unfortunate button gap all the more glaring. Great shoes, though.
Perfect Holiday Office Party attire. It’s cute, if a little shapeless on her.
Eva Longoria in Victoria Beckham
All for the ladysuit action, but the colors here are really odd together. And those pants need hemming, of course, but that almost goes without saying since it seems like half the women in celebrity land seem to wear their pants this way.
It feels kind of off-season, but we can’t say it’s not eye-catching. The boots are a bit much, though.
Kaitlyn Dever in Miu Miu
Considering it has giant angel-wing ruffles on it, that’s a pretty cool dress. The footwear is an abomination and must be destroyed.
Kerry Washington in Brock Collection
Great shoes! Horrifically drab dress.
Mindy Kaling in Tory Burch
The shape is just not great, although we love the textile. The shoes are lovely too. BUT WHY ARE WE LOOKING AT AN AUTOPSY SUTURE?
The Queen of Curves, gentlefolk. The First Lady of Shape. The Empress of Hourglasses. Can’t say we’re loving the waist bow, though.
Olivia Wilde in Michael Kors Collection
This is just perfect, from the fit, to the belt, to the ’80s power pumps.
Reese Witherspoon in Michael Kors Collection
Trust Miss Reese to truly nail the style an event like this calls for. A celebrity powerlady breakfast event? Girlfriend LIVES for such things. She looks great.
