Marvel Studios’ “Black Widow” Official Trailer

We have to admit, that’s a killer poster. As for this film, we greeted the news of it with a shrug. We’ve always appreciated Johansson’s work on the Marvel films and what she brought to that universe (aside from being the only costumed woman in it for a bit too long), and we definitely think the MCU is in dire need of some women-focused films. And Natasha’s a great character in which Johansson is clearly comfortable as an actress. It all makes a certain amount of sense to give her a film. But it’s hard not to see it as an afterthought – or at least it was, before we saw the trailer that dropped today:

Okay, we’re in. We’re in for some Lady Bourne Supremacy action, we’re in for Florence Pugh kicking ass after she completely blew us away in Midsommar, and we’re also not ashamed to say we’re in for beefy, tatted, shirtless David Harbour. Also, is it us or does this trailer make it seem like they could either be setting up Florence Pugh as the next Black Widow OR they could be setting her up as the Black Widow who actually died in Avengers: Endgame? We’re just saying. We’re getting a vibe here.
