For the Evening Standard Theatre Awards, the celeb ladies all showed up in highly holiday-appropriate wear. Attaladies! Get your sparkle and jingle on while you can, right? We’re still judging you, though.
Ella Balinska in Michael Kors Collection
She looks utterly fabulous. Our only quibble: the pants need an inch off the hem.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw in Michael Kors Collection
Michael Kors, why’d you have to go and complicate the skirt like that? It’s a pretty fabulous dress otherwise.
Hayley Atwell in Dolce&Gabbana
Perhaps there was a theme in the dress code, because this is another nearly fantastic look coming pretty close to getting ruined by a weird and focus-pulling design element. She looks gorgeous, but only once you can tear your eyes away from the gewgaw on her waist.
Laura Carmichael in Monse
Chic and simple. She stuck with what works best for her and she looks great.
Naomi Scott in Miu Miu
We don’t hate that it’s a crop top, but we don’t think it adds much to the look to have the belly exposed. This feels like it would’ve been way more appropriate when she was doing promo work for Aladdin. It’s very “Princess Jasmine’s Christmas.”
Ruth Wilson in Michael Kors Collection
We’re generally okay with the eighties redux in current fashion because these things are always cyclical and if a generation wants to take a crack at broad shoulders and bold colors, be our guests, we say. But the star motif strikes us as a bit too literal and costume-y. We don’t love the shape, but if it was in a color more suited to her, this might work.
