Miss Regina has a brand spanking new Oscar on the shelf sitting alongside a handful of fairly fresh Emmys, and a hot new prestige television series with heavy buzz pre launch. And because miss Regina is a star of some long standing, girlfriend knows that the time is exactly right to step out looking fierce.

That is some hardcore red carpetry for a TV show launch, even if it is HBO. We tend to hate belly cut outs and Hi-lo skirts — and believe us, this frock hasn’t managed to change our minds. But the longer we look at this, the more right it seems for her. If we had to describe Regina’s appeal as an actress, it’s her unique combination of competence, glamour (occasionally), and coolness, with just a little bit of a dark edge. The design and style is exuberant and a little over the top, but the fact that it’s rendered in black really changes the feel of it. The high ponytail wrapped in leather is such a great way of styling this and giving it just a bit more edge. Also love the shape of the earrings, which frame her face but don’t distract from it. The only real quibble we have aside from the aforementioned cut out and hem style are the shoes, although all things considered – like, how awful clear shoes tend to be – these aren’t that bad. She looks great; glamorous, beautiful, a little badass and confident. We think that’s her brand in a nutshell.
