While Bill and Cathy were on the other side of the globe looking incredibly glamorous, Megs and Harry stayed home and kept things low-key, which is pretty much their style and approach to their jobs in a nutshell.

Everything here is a re-wear, which is no surprise. She wore the dress for their engagement announcement. We think the bag might be new. It’s cute, but the scarf handle strikes us as a little presh. We also think the style of coat may not be conducive to the “hanging off the shoulders” style of wearing it. The collar’s too wide and heavy, making it look like it’s about to fall off her at any second. But nitpicking aside, it’s a good, well-coordinated, solid sort of look for a Duchess at an event like this. If Harry seems a little spiffier than usual, it’s because he’s the patron and he gave a speech. These two don’t coordinate their outfits with the same rigidity of the Cambridges, which makes a certain sort of sense, given the difference in their roles and expectations. Cathy is clearly barreling toward “figurehead” and away from “normal human woman,” so her style and presentation alongside her husband is more cohesive, almost uniform-like. Megan and Harry have the freedom to act a bit more like normal people in their mode of presentation.
