One interesting thing about miss Lupita’s promotional style is that sometimes she sticks to a theme and other times she expresses herself freely. You might be forgiven for thinking this was an outfit leftover from the Black Panther promo tour, when the entire cast coordinated their looks and stepped out in African-inspired, animal print, or tribal-based themes. But the thing about that: it wasn’t just a one-off thing for Miss Lupita.  She’s always dressed to express who she is or what she’s feeling in her promotional style. And she never seems to feel like she has to avoid certain styles because they’re too expected of her. Case in point:

This is a screening for a mainstream horror film in which she appears to be playing an American, as she often does in mainstream films. If she was dressing toward a theme or dressing for the project, she’d have probably stuck with a mainstream designer and something a little trendier than this. That’s kind of why we love it. It’s unexpected but perfect for her. With that hair and those earrings, she can’t go wrong with a wildly colored animal-inspired print. We just wish she hadn’t tucked the top into her pants.
