Kittens, if you think YOU had a bear of a Monday, spare a moment of sympathy for Good Lady Cate, who hit the sidewalks of New York came the dawn and poledanced her way through a blizzard of promotional appearances (absolutely NAILING the metaphors there) in no less than SIX discussable ensembles. If nothing else, you’ve got to respect the Good Lady Cate’s promo game.

Fabulous daywear that looks simple at first glance, but becomes more and more interesting the longer you take in the details. We normally hate split sleeves, but there’s something very elegant about the blouse overall and she was smart to keep the lower half extremely basic. Killer shade game.

She is serving us 21st Century Hepburn realness (Katharine, not Audrey) and we are LIVING for it. Love that giant leather laundry bag. We know we shouldn’t, but she makes it all look so chic and coordinated.

She is giving us drape, she is giving us flow, she is giving us VISUAL INTEREST. This doesn’t look like much at first glance, but like her previous two ensembles, it really grows on you the longer you take it in. We love the shoe choice, but we suspect we’re standing alone on that one. The Good Lady can sometimes come off a bit pretentious in her persona, but there simply aren’t many movie stars on her level who can get away with “Serious Intellectual (but also chic) Artist” drag. It suits her.

Of course then she’ll immediately swerve and give you “Mary Kay Regional Director circa 1992” realness and what can we say? WERQ it, gurl.

If she wore all of these flowy, split-sleeve, vaguely Hepburn-ish looks over the course of a week, we’d have declared ourselves a little bored by it all. But there’s something really appealing about her sticking rigidly to certain motifs and styles all through the course of one day. We don’t think this blouse is being well served by photographing it as it catches the breeze and puffs out like a cobra head, but … wait a minute. That actually sounds kind of badass.

One final swerve, for a lady who’s really into her arms and shoulders today:

It’s insane and we LOVE it. There hasn’t been a good twist on the ladytux in some time, but pairing it with full-on Nolan Miller Dynasty sleeves is a stroke of brilliance. Love the hair, love the makeup, love the earrings. She looks amazing.
