Here we see an old Fashion Truism That No One Ever Thought To Articulate Before T Lo in practice, darlings. Said shockingly original Fashion Truism? Merely this:

The longer the women’s pantsuit stays trendy, the higher the likelihood that designers will keep fucking with them until they’re hideous clown suits.

Please make a note of it. It’s a thing. The sharp, smart women’s libber pantsuits of the early ’70s eventually gave way to the polyester disco monstrosities of the latter part of the decade. The ’80s Power Bitch suit eventually gave way to the shapeless, buttonless, pussy-bow’d elastic-waistbanded genericness of the ’90s. And now, the post-Hillary suit has morphed into a bunch of ugly wallpaper suits with increasingly silly silhouettes and design details. To be honest, we’re kind of jealous. If only we saw a fraction of this experimentation in menswear. Instead, the boys are still out there in mostly funeral-appropriate colors and accounting department-appropriate cuts.

We don’t hate this, really, We think the metallic top wasn’t needed and that the jacket needs to be closed for picture-taking, but we’d rather see folks get their clownsuits on than step out in something generic or forgettable.
