Style File: “Russian Doll” Star Natasha Lyonne Steps It Up

Miss Natasha’s got a pretty savage-looking dark comedy (the genre she’s built to work in) for Netflix and we don’t know if it’s because she’s the lead instead of part of an ensemble or if she’s just feeling the need to step up her game on these matters, but we’ve never seen her in such sharp and chic looks while promoting a project. Even better, they feel perfectly suited to her no-bullshit personality. A good stylist can make a non-fashionista look like a cover model if they know how to navigate their clients whims and expectations.

LOVE this. We wouldn’t have pegged her for the pleated skirt or the stiletto heels, but this all looks fabulous on her and we imagine the kickass jacket and overall vibe really appealed to her. We definitely could’ve done without the waistband branding action and we think the bag comes off a little too fussy for the look. And we rarely every get this nitpicky, but we don’t think those frames look good on her at all. Still, the jacket, skirt and boots are all fantastic.

This one also has a few button-pushers for us; namely the sheer top and the goofily fussy asymmetricality of that skirt. But we love the overall feel of it. The navy blue looks great on her and the pairing of that sharp coat with a fussy skirt has mild Carrie Bradshaw undertones, which is a really good style muse for her.

That honestly looks kind of amazing.
