Friday Leftovers for the Week of January 6th, 2019 – Part One

Posted on January 11, 2019

PinKittens, we’ve got a ton of red carpetry to plow through, so let’s get to it!

Anya Taylor-Joy in Saint Laurent
Pin

Black sheer hose are official a Thing, aren’t they? This is like the fifth time we’ve seen them on a red carpet in the New Year. And she’s probably the youngest wearer yet, which is the biggest signifier of their trendy status. She’s pulling them off. Not so much with the headband, but we appreciate the attempt. Dress is cute.

Why?

Emily Blunt
Pin

This was a party, not a red carpet, which makes the inclusion here a little dicey, but we thought the coat was interesting enough to highlight for a second. The color’s too dingy for such a whimsical design.

Glenn Close
Pin

LOVE this. Easily the best of her recent efforts. She doesn’t have to shy away from color, pattern or fit. She can handle all three just fine.

Jennifer Garner in Gucci
Pin

Lots of big-ass wreath bows on dresses lately. Hate it.

Judith Light
Pin

Too fab for words.

Lily Collins in Elie Saab
Pin

You’d think this hyper-romantic frock would be right in her wheelhouse, but it comes off muddy and overdesigned in pictures. Not sure the heavy makeup and tight hair were the right choices for it.

Lindsay Lohan
Pin

A toga and sparkly socks. Sure, Lindsay. Okay.

Mahershala Ali
Pin

Two things are happening here. The shirt and suit are all being rendered in the same fabric. The suit jacket is being secured with a sash. Neither of these two things should ever happen.

Matthew McConnaughey
Pin

This is a Matthew McConnaughey impersonator.

Naomi Watts in Nina Ricci
Pin

We have finally reached Peak Pink. Enough.

Olivia Colman in The Hermes of India
Pin

Miss Olivia, you need to slap the next person who offers you anything satin to wear.

Sam Elliott
Pin

Nothing to argue with here.

Saoirse Ronan in Miu Miu
Pin

Simple, but pretty. When we discussed whether to feature it or not, we kept saying it looked like a dozen other dresses she wore. ALso, those shoes are too distracting.

Tracee Ellis Ross in Gucci
Pin

Go on, lady. Do your fashion thing. It’s goofy, but it’s you. And Gucci.

Uzo Aduba in Thom Browne
Pin

Low-key Glam, impeccably rendered.

More to come in Part TWO!
