Danielle Macdonald, Jennifer Aniston and Dolly Parton at the “Dumplin'” Los Angeles Premiere

Posted on December 10, 2018

We’re not going to have much to say about the fashion choices here for soon-to-be-clear reasons. We just wanted to give y’all a place to discuss Dumplin’, because it was exactly what it claimed to be. And for a lot of people right now, we’d wager it’s also exactly what you need: pure, old-school, feel-good holiday entertainment with a killer soundtrack. It’s sappy and it’s cheesy and it’s the perfect accompaniment to that classic me-time combination of couch+comfy pants+wine+holiday lights. It’s not going to challenge you much and the laughs, while plentiful, are of the gentle sort.

This trio of gals have just about everything to do with its success.

And for the two more famous ones, we’d say they’re checking off their usual style boxes, which is to be expected from both of them.

Danielle MacDonald

This is cute. The dress fits perfectly and has a great shape for her. The dark green with the gold metallic pumps is a classic but not overdone holiday color combo, which makes it a good choice for this kind of event. Hair and makeup look great too. We just aren’t in love with the sleeves or the hem, both of which give the dress a smock feel, like a combination hospital gown/hair salon smock. Hem to the floor and a fitted pair of wrist or bracelet-length sleeves, please.

It’s a testament to her maintenance routine that this set of pictures could have been taken at any time over the last ten years but it sure doesn’t speak of her fresh fashion sense. This is fine. Nice, even. But the cuffs are the only thing to distinguish it from a thousand other Aniston dresses.

Dolly Parton

Goddess. That is all.
