Who’s up for sincere joy and pure fabulosity, all in the same set of pictures? Why, you of course.
That is a lot of hair, makeup and fashion to take in. Let’s get over the distractingly joyful smiles and break this down.
Amandla Stenberg
We’re not sure what’s going on with us lately, but between this eye-strainer and Nicole Kidman’s yesterday, we find ourselves strangely drawn to these overdone prairie dresses. Maybe we’re just tired of the more literally Laura Ingalls-esque versions and we’re feeling the modernity that these over-embellished busy-as-hell versions. Our point: we recognize this is too much and we even sort of agree that it’s borderline ugly, but we still find it kind of appealing. Especially on her. It’s all too much, but it’s also deceptively well-coordinated with her hair and makeup, making for a fairly unified look considering all the disparate elements.
Tracee Ellis Ross
Love the hair, love the dress, love the kinda-tacky shoes. HATE the proportions. The skirt’s a bit too short and could probably use a bit of a slit. The sleeves end at an awkward point and the neckline overwhelms everything else. She’s selling the hell out of it and to be fair, there’s a lot to sell, but the basic shape needs some adjusting for her.
