Awkawafina’s been having a lot of red carpet fun since Crazy Rich Asians premiered. Constance Wu’s been out there slinging frocks at every chance too. And of course, Henry’s been on a major PR charm offensive for months now. Why have the gods seen fit to keep Miss Gemma from appearing every single day in something sickening and stunning? Miss Lady, you are way too fab not to be out there every day modeling couture for our delight and enjoyment. But fine. Go live your life or whatever.

But seriously, T had to literally shush Lo in the theater because he kept shouting “Fucking FABULOUS” every time she appeared on screen. A lot of actresses who look good in fashion get compared to Audrey Hepburn, but Gemma really does have that very Audrey-esque knack for making fashion look other-worldly and effortless.

And now, after an introduction she couldn’t possibly live up to…

She looks … good. She’s certainly making that slightly odd dress look better than it has a right to. Love the shoes and bag, though. And of course, the hair and makeup are gorgeous. All things considered, for a Louis Vuitton number, it’s pretty simple in style, even if it’s clearly overdesigned. Two quick fixes: lose whatever those weird wings are coming off the bust, and add a simple belt to provide a transition from top to skirt.

As for Mr. Charm…
