Red Carpet Rundown: Variety’s Power of Women: Los Angeles

Posted on October 15, 2018

Kittens, the women of the entertainment industry came together to celebrate their power and we’re one hundred percent supportive of that, but we’re also here to talk about their outfits. We can only be as God made us, after all.

Alyssa Milano in Peggy Hartanto

It’s a bold and eye-catching design, but the skirt is too fussy and the combo of the neckline and thick shoulders (the dress, not hers) make it proportionally questionable.

Bebe Rexha in Givenchy

Love the suit, but it’s a bit too snug all over. And the finishing details are all a little questionable. The pink sandals don’t really go as well as they could and the earrings look cheap.

Gina Rodriguez in Rasario

A really great dress for her, but we’ll never love those half-clear shoes.

Kathryn Hahn

Great suit. Could’ve used a hemming job and a blue cami or shell underneath.

Lena Waithe

We love her style, but she’s usually better at finding a way to express herself and stick to the dress code a little better than this. It’s just too casual.

Regina King in Oscar de la Renta

It was a night for pink suits, it would seem. This looks great on her, but the fit’s a bit off in the jacket.

Thandie Newton in Carolina Herrera

LUV HUH. While this might seem just a skosh grandiose for the event, it’s too cute to argue with. She can work a Minnie Mouse level of polka dottery and make it look chic. Ditto side cutouts. She’s a fashion witch.

Tiffany Haddish

Miss Girl’s been getting it right more often than not lately and we’re here to recognize. We don’t like the shoe choice at all but we love this dress on her. We’d love it more if that ruffle at the bottom was about half as thick as it is.
