We don’t normally subject non-red carpet lewks to an “IN or OUT?” vote, but Miss Claire’s been dressing in an unusually strong (although totally on point given the project she’s promoting) style, unveiling one edgy or unique look after another. In other words, she’s been wearing some highly discussable looks, so let’s get to discussing.
Personally, we’re loving a lot of what we’re seeing here. Love a black-and-navy combo, which can look so sophisticated on the right person. LOVE the shoes, which are just gorgeous. A little aside: When we started doing red carpet commentary a decade ago, we could rely on the shoes – which, at the time were very much in the gigantic beartrap style – to provide us with a paragraph’s worth of thoughts and opinions. And while we don’t want to overstate the eye-catching gorgeousness of these shoes, they do tend to remind us of just how generic most celebrity lady footwear has gotten since the dawn of the Nudist sandal. It’s starting to feel like stylists have lost sight of just how much work a good shoe can do for an outfit, opting instead to consistently pick the same generic, minimalist, barely existent style of shoe over and over again.
Anyway, tangent aside, we’re feeling this look. Not just the shoes and the color combo, but the shape and style. We’re not entirely sure about the oversized pocket situation, which is why we’re turning this one over to you for final call. One last opinion before we hand you the reins: Her makeup looks really pretty and fresh but the lip could use a bit more color to it.
Okay, we’re done. Pick up the ball and run with it, kittens:
