Kittens, it’s time for one of our favorite of the annual (Low-Key Division) celebrity events ! It’s when some of the stars come out and try to land that breezy polo field style that seemingly eludes most of them! The results often range from tragic to hilarious! Let’s see how they did this year. Bonus points to anyone who dresses to match a VC bottle.
The dress is near-perfect for her, although we’d like it more if wasn’t so “nude-y” in color. A little more contrast and pop would be her friend here. The accessories – every single one – are completely wrong. The hat is wrong with the style of dress, the gold sandals are wrong for the setting, and the black bag and belt don’t go with the day time feel. Believe it or not, this was one of the better efforts.
This is bold and pretty, but it feels more high-summer/poolside than October polo classic.
If he was shooting for the Douchey Prepster look, we have to say he nailed it.
This is almost perfectly on point. Love the footwear, love the shades, love the lightweight (if too tight) jacket. He should ditch the tie and dress pants, substituting the latter with some colored chinos.
Kaley Cuoco in Fendi
We don’t think that ensemble really suits her all that well, but we’ll give her points for working a bold, high fashion sporty look, perfectly on point for the occasion.
Karen Gillan in Self-Portrait
This is a polo classic, dear. Not an ugly dress contest.
Mandy Moore in Fendi
Too dressy. And those sock-booties are horrifying.
Olivia Wilde in Alice + Olivia
If the suit was fitted just a little bit better (as in, we can see her feet but can’t see her bra) we’d think this was perfect.
Rebel Wilson in Michael Kors Collection
Great dress and shades. Once again, we find the use of black accessories for a polo classic to be a bit of a head-scratcher. Personally, we’re fine with white shoes here, but if that’s too much for the rules-quoters, we’d suggest anything in a light or neutral tone to keep this look in the daytime realm.
