Style File: Sandra Oh Takes Some Risks at the Pre-Emmys Parties

Posted on September 17, 2018

We’re thrilled by Miss Sandra’s Emmy nomination for Killing Eve and if you really tried to pin us down, we’d say she’s our pick for her category of Lead Actress in a Drama Series. We’re also thrilled it gives us a chance to highlight her red carpet choices because it’s not an arena in which she’s over-exposed and because of that, she seems to make some fairly off-the-beaten-path choices, to varying effect. Welcome to the world of our judgment, Sandra!

It took us a minute, but we genuinely love this. We think the skirt is a bit too stiff and the focus-pulling shoes were a definite mistake, but the dress is so eye-catching, quirky and bold. We can’t help but see it as an expression of her personality, which is why it appeals so much to us. A less bell-shaped skirt and a plain pair of pumps (in almost any color) would bring this to perfect.

And then, unforch, there’s this. Miss Sandra, we’re rooting for you too much to linger on this one, but suffice it to say, the color, shape and very textile itself are working against you. Let us never speak of this again, dear. Stick with the boldly quirky stuff. It’s so much better for you.
