Darlings, we’re happy to report that it’s been another blockbuster week on the red carpet front, which means our weekly leftovers are not so much sad mediocrities as a range of efforts, none of which approached the level of “disaster.” Isn’t that the most backhanded thing you ever heard? Let’s get to it.
Bradley Cooper in Gucci
It’s just not working for us, we’re afraid. The colors are bland and the proportions are unflattering on him. The massive pants cuff is hugely distracting.
Colbie Smulders in Vivetta
A really cute look that deserved a better backdrop.
Common in Dolce&Gabbana
LOVE. It’s colorful, stylish and casually on point.
Gina Rodriguez in Missoni
We want to like the dress, but it comes off really heavy and overdesigned in pictures.
The pajama trend will be over when Gwendoline decides that it’s over.
Not setting the world on fire, but pretty and well-styled. The hair and neckline are perfectly in sync.
Julianne Hough in Jenny Packham
The suit is kind of fun, but we really can’t get behind the hair.
We hate turtlenecks on men – and will not be talked into it with this example – but we’re happy to see him out of the blue suit box and these colors look really great on him.
Kerry Washington in Markarian
Miss Lady, getting the job done. Liking the dress; not feeling the accessories.
She never wears anything generic. While we can’t say we always love her choices, we’re beginning to really respect how broad they are.
Laverne Cox and Rosario Dawson
Hey, Girlfriends. We’re … just gonna leave you to it, then.
Lea Michele in Temperley London
Really pretty. Maybe not quite a personal best for her, but it’s near the top.
Mandy Moore in Azzedine Alaïa
We keep trying to like it, but she looks too much like a dance teacher wearing upholstery. We’re sorry, Mandy.
Marion Cotillard in Chanel Couture
It’s sharp, but we’re really not seeing how those boots work with it.
Patricia Clarkson in Temperley London
Possibly the only woman on the planet who could work a pink sequined leopard print gown and have it come off classy.
Penélope Cruz in Chanel
It’s okay, but it feels a little high-summer breezy.
That will do nicely.
Robert Pattinson in Dior Homme
Bit of a standard look for him in a lot of ways, but it’s one for which he’s really well suited.
Salma Hayek in Gucci
In the interests of keeping things positive, that is DEFINITELY NOT the worst Gucci she’s ever worn! Huzzah!
Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams (in Louis Vuitton)
At the risk of his legion of fangurls calling war down upon our heads once again for saying it, he’s a total douchebag for showing up at a professional event dressed like that, knowing that his female co-star was going to put more effort in. She looks cute, by the way.
