There were all sorts of color stories to be found on this year’s Emmys red carpet, to our eternal gratitude, because writing about neutral dresses all day would be soul-crushing. We’re delicate that way. Anyway, on a red carpet exploding with hues, Miss Tiffany managed to outshine almost all of them.
There were a lot of quick jokes about beach balls and gym class parachutes on the twitters, but we suspected there was something of a story behind this slightly unusual combination of shades. This isn’t a look that’s quite on trend with the current color preferences and it didn’t strike us as a combo Prabal Gurung had any history with. Prabal himself supplied the answers:
“A labour of love, Tiffany’s Atelier Prabal Gurung gown is made with over 100 yards of hand pleated chiffon, created with couture ideals in our New York Atelier. Each colour pays homage to her Eritrean heritage, honouring her father’s homeland.”
She wore an Eritrean-inspired ensemble to the Oscars this year as well. We love that she’s using the world of fashion and the venue of the celebrity red carpet to not only express herself, but to inject some cultural diversity into it as well. It helps when the results are like this: stunning and unforgettable.
