Sometimes, all a gal needs is a good pink frock to see her through. Also: about a half-pound of diamonds.
We absolutely love this look. A dress like this one can come off a little dressmaker-y on a red carpet. It’s a bit hard to articulate what we mean by that except it smacks of the kind of safe and practical design elements many customers seek when they want a formal dress made to order. The kind of dress you see at socialite events and fancy wedding parties. This isn’t a criticism of those dresses because they’re not meant to be promotional in the way red carpet choices are meant to be. They’re meant to be pretty and photogenic, but not fussy or attention-seeking. Granted, the to-the-floor arm cape thing isn’t exactly a demure and modest design choice, but it’s literally the only thing adding any drama to this look. That and the aforementioned diamonds are all Miss Thandie needed, however. We love the restrained hairstyle, which really lets the dress and jewelry take the spotlight. Much as we love when she plays with her hair, this was an elegant and restrained choice that turned a bright pink gown with a cape effect into something sophisticated and chic. Slap on a little glitter pink eyeshadow (because she apparently resides in the small percentage of folks who can make it work) and Miss Lady’s got enough lewk to last her all night.
