We loved The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and we’re charmed by Miss Rachel as well as dazzled by how great she looks in strong fashion pieces. It is for these reasons that we are saddened to report that we’re not quite feeling this look.
It’s striking, sure. Unfortunately, the ombre effect barely registered on TV. Then again, maybe that’s for the best, because it tends to look like she waded through waist-deep water to get to the venue. We think that unintentional effect combined with the twisted and mismatched strap situation is combining to make it look like she braved a hurricane to come pick up her trophy. This is one of those dresses that’s essentially a very basic design with some last-minute twists (in this case literal) tacked on to keep it from being dull. The colors really suit her, though. She’s a gal who can handle a lot of red. We’re just not in love with the design.
