Emmys 2018: Claire Foy Takes a Victory Lap in Calvin Klein by Appointment

Posted on September 18, 2018

Nothing against the very talented Miss Claire, but we were hoping to have Sandra Oh up here in the winner’s circle. And nothing against the lovely CK frock she’s sporting, but we were also hoping to inject a little color into your early morning reveries. While white was a semi-popular choice on last night’s Emmys red carpet, it turned out to be a fairly colorful awards show style display overall. Which isn’t to say this look is lacking somehow:

It has a classic sort of elegance that suits her and we imagine is somewhat expected of her, given her most famous role. But she’s got the look and the attitude for far edgier styles than this and we suspect we’re seeing the last gasp of her regally elegant red carpetry for a good while. She’s the new Lisbeth Salander and that role practically demands you reach for the cray pile when it comes time to put together a promo wardrobe. She strikes us as the type who always tries to do her very best job, so when she’s being asked to rep or promote a role where she’s elegant and regal, she dresses as expected. In other words, this is well done, but we don’t think it represents her true style preferences.
