Miss Emma is not treating the premiere of her new TV series with any less care and reverence (from a style perspective) than she would any major Oscar-bait film festival premiere. We approve of her commitment to the poledance and note it as one more mark in the column labeled “TV is the New Cinema” or however the next thinkpiece on the topic chooses to frame it. Our point: when film stars win Oscars and then promptly start shooting a very quirky TV series, it’s a testament to how much the entertainment game has shifted. There was a time when the divide between TV and movie stardom was miles wide.
Bringing this back to style, this is a movie premiere look. We like it, but we can’t bring ourselves to love it because of the unnecessarily and distractingly large keyhole cutout. The textile, style and silhouette all look fabulous on her and if the cutout was a little more proportionally correct to the rest of the bodice, we’d be huzzahing this one to the ceiling. Still, she looks pretty great. Just not as amazing as we’d have liked.
Full disclosure: We’re hoping to finish our posting and podcasting duties early just so we can sit down and take this one in. We’ve had our eye on it forever.
