We wont lie to you. We’re basically taking every opportunity we can to put off another Fashion Week or film festival post; so hungry are we for something a little off the beaten path on the celebrity fashion front. Well, Miss Christina has delivered, by wandering onto a very leather-heavy path, it would seem:
Oof. Sweetie, no. Unfortunately, this confirms something we suspected about her recent style evolution and turn toward a more stripped-bare look. It was never meant to last because it was never really representative of her. Let’s face it. She’s spent her entire adult life (and more than a couple years prior to it) in a ton of makeup, tight clothes, and her hair bleached to blinding hues. You don’t stick to a look that difficult to maintain for that long unless you see it as a true expression of yourself.
Taking a sanguine sort of let-people-be-themselves approach, we can understand that and even support it to an extent – even if we think the cleaner look takes twenty years and ten pounds off her instantly. Our problem with this look is that it feels like something Xtina should never be attempting: Gaga cosplay. If you’ve gotta pile on the slap and the peroxide and the outrageous outfits, go for it. Just don’t wind up doing someone else’s look.
