Someone Came Dressed as Cate Blanchett for the L.A. Premiere of “The House with a Clock in Its Walls”

Posted on September 17, 2018

After a decade of listening to us bow down to her superior style skills and flawless taste, Miss Cate has decided to test us. Apparently she found our love lacking somehow. We can find no other reason to explain this:

There’s a part of us that would like to believe this is merely a professional Cate Blanchett impersonator (we presume such things exist) hired to stand in for her because she has a cold or something. Otherwise, we would be forced to wonder just what the hell Cate Blanchett was thinking when she agreed to that stringy hair, those kind of goofy shades, that picnic blanket of a suit, those ridiculous flares and the wholly UN-Blanchett-like generic sandals. No, kittens. We refuse and reject the very premise. Fake news. This is not Cate Blanchett. Now if you’ll excuse us, we have to go flip through some British Vogues to center ourselves and calm down a bit.
