Translating the Runway Trends for Fall 2018: Get In Touch With Your Animal Side!

Posted on August 17, 2018

Kittens, if you’ve had a bad week or if you’ve had a great week, isn’t it time you rewarded yourself for getting through another week by giving into your base animal urges?

No, not the dirty stuff – although go with God if you’re in pursuit of that, darlings. As ever in all things base and dirty, you have our forever blessing. No, what we’re talking about here is one of the hottest trends of the fall 2018 runway, the fun, sexy, gloriously tacky-chic ANIMAL PRINT.

Yes, it’s back. Again. And in a big, big way.

As you can see, the trend this season is to take the classically tacky animal prints of yore, from tiger to leopard and even a little python and giraffe if you want to get all crazy about it, and updating them by rendering them in unexpected shapes, items and colors. You’ll always have options for a cute leopard print skirt or a body-con tiger print dress, and of course your personal shopper Mr. Lorenzo made sure to offer you plenty of the classics. But if you’ll scroll down to see his selections, you may want to note how much fun Mr. Lorenzo had picking out bold colors or funky little pieces that may have you looking at the lowly leopard print in a new light.

BEHOLD, darlings! An array of pretend animal hides to help you get in touch with your inner Sheena, Queen of the Jungle!

Just look at all that fun, colorful printery. It wouldn’t be here if Lorenzo didn’t love it, but if you pressed him on it, he’d tell you that the pinks, blues and other unnatural color options are the pieces he loves the most. They feel fresh and yet they also have a vaguely New Wave/post-Punk feel to them he can’t help love. He’s also really feeling the accessories options, since they remain the best, most classically chic way to integrate this trend into your wardrobe. Animal prints go in and out of style constantly, so any good piece in a classic shape will likely stand you in good stead for many seasons to come. And if you get tired of it, just pack it away in your closet and forget about it until the next time it becomes trendy again, darling.

So! Feeling a little animal right now?
