Style File: Jennifer Lopez Unleashes the Tacky in New York

Posted on August 01, 2018

Because sometimes, a gal’s just got express her tacky side. It helps if that gal is J Lo and she’s heading into MTV studios, because then the tackiness can be said to simply make good sense. Would we expect Jenny From the Block to be heading into TRL dressed like a society matron? No, darlings. That would be disappointing. We embrace the tacky – especially when you get a world-class purveyor of it like J Lo on board. Some people do tacky and it’s just that. Tacky. Other people do it and they look like the Dowager Empress of the Strip Mall.

Sublimely tacky. The glitter heels, drawstring pants, Terminator shades and satin finish could possibly overwhelm one with their combined level of tackiness. But the somewhat neutral/peachy hue that we like to call “Granny’s Nightgown,” combined with the HILARIOUSLY off-point bag choice distract us from being swept away on a wave of nausea.

Oh, we laughed and laughed, kittens. For like 15 straight minutes. Thank you, girl. Thank you for introducing us to the idea of boots designed to look like your jeans fell down. Thank you for being SO DAMN BRILLIANT as to pair them with a plain white dress shirt to complete the illusion. If she’d worn these boots with a cute dress or over a pair of leggings, she wouldn’t have looked like she was stepping out of her clothes right there on the sidewalk. Miss J knows exactly what the fuck she’s doing. This is genius-level tacky.
