Darlings, a rather grueling travel time as we set off on our week-long vacation (which is defined in independent blogger terms as “go somewhere fun and relaxing and work every day, but make sure it doesn’t interfere with rafting and day-drinking”) left us unable to opinionate on this one in a timely manner. But there was no way we were going to leave this one undiscussed on our little corner of the internet, late posting or not.
With the news that the Sussexes will be dialing back on the public appearances for a bit, it seems like Miss Duchess here took the opportunity of this dual celebratory occasion to get …
… a little sassy in her style. Well. Half-sassy, anyway.
We love the boldly color-blocked pleated skirt, which looks really fabulous on her. And we’re loath to admit this, but we even like the little bows on the backs of her shoes. It’s the kind of element we’d normally rail against, but if a Duchess can’t get a little romantic whimsy on now and then, what’s a fairy tale for? Besides, we like the play of the skirt and the shoes. They go well together.
Everything above the waist is kind of bland or ill-considered, from the somewhat generic Treacy hat to the shapeless and slightly unflattering bodice, to the leather belt, which pulls focus. mainly because it doesn’t really go with the dress at all.
