Claire Foy Arrives for the Venice Film Festival in Chanel

Posted on August 29, 2018

The boating dock is the new red carpet, darlings. Or it is for the duration of the Venice Film Festival. As we noted yesterday with Naomi Watts’ arrival via water taxi, this always struck us as one of the more glamorous and enviable of celebrity promotional exercises. It’s hard to look bad on a Venice canal in a good pair of shades and some borrowed Chanel.

Naomi opted for a juxtaposition of dressy and casual elements, but Miss Claire is going the full red carpet route. This is pretty dazzling. The collar, the tight, sporty armscyes and the graphic pattern all help to give it a bit of a daytime feel so she doesn’t come off overdressed, but it’s still formal and dressy enough to give her that movie star realness the occasion calls for. The needle was threaded well on this one.

Incidentally, to all the folks who rightly wonder just what the hell a resort collection is for, here you go. They’re for movie stars to wear during their Venice water taxi rides. That may seem like a hopelessly specific incident upon which to hang an entire collection, but can we argue with the results here?
