Miss Jenny has taken a slight turn away from the Tacky Glam street looks she unleashed on us earlier in the week. Please note and remember that we said “A SLIGHT TURN” as you scroll down.
Oof.
Not that we would necessarily call this tacky. In fact, it’s mostly pretty fabulous, but it’s very loud and attention-seeking while also being a bit uncharacteristically awkward. First, the blouse: Like it or not, what the fashion mags are calling “grandma’s couch florals” are very much in at the moment – and for the upcoming fall season. While we tend to see this particular floral as more along the lines of “fancy ladies room wallpaper” rather than “grandma’s couch,” it’s clearly part of that trend for bold, colorful, retro floral graphics. This doesn’t feel quite “August” to us, but we actually really like the blouse. It’s the pants that truly bug. We know J Lo loves to wear white a lot. And there’s certainly nothing wrong with wearing big white pants the first week in August. But we don’t think they go with the top at all. In fact, because of the brightness and the volume, the pants are actively fighting with that top for outfit dominance. It wouldn’t be as trendy or high-impact, but if we were giving a real person real-world fashion advice, we’d tell them to switch out the white pants for a cream-colored pair. That’s not J Lo’s way and it’s not a particularly pap-friendly way to dress, but the look would come off a lot more integrated than it does here.
